On January 24th, I had the opportunity to photograph the Mead Hall Lady Panthers basketball team take on Augusta's Curtis Baptist school here in Aiken, South Carolina. It was a nail biter of a game finishing with a Panthers point streak that left the final score at 20-13.
The win was an emotional one, as 23 year old Panthers coach Meredith Legg was diagnosed with uveal melanoma in the spring of 2009. The resulting surgery left her with the use of only one eye. Last May, doctors discovered new lesions on the right side of her liver. She has been receiving radiation along with some experimental treatments and all but one lesion have been shrinking. My thoughts and prayers are with Meredith, her family, an her amazing team.
Yesterday she lead the them to victory at the Independent School Championships. Here are a few of my photos from Monday's game:
